Julia Dräger gained her Music Degree at Musikhochschule (Music Academy) Heidelberg-Mannheim, Germany, where she studied violin as first study instrument, followed by postgraduate studies with Prof. Franciszek Jurys at Music Academy Darmstadt, Germany.

She also obtained her first and second teaching state exams gaining qualifications as a secondary/grammar school teacher for Music and German after reading German language & literature as a second subject at Mannheim University.

Julia has attained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England.

To complement her studies at Music Academy, she was an active participant in various international violin & chamber music masterclasses with Alexander Arenkow, Klara Flieder and Winfried Rademacher, amongst others.

 

She played in a number of orchestras, including the International Orchestra Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with conductors Lorin Maazel, Kurt Sanderling, Semyon Bychkov and Dennis Russell Davies, performing in Germany and France.

 

Both in Germany and in London, Julia has gained experience as a violin teacher with students of different levels and ages, from children as young as 4 to adults, including adult beginners and re-starters.


She taught the violin at the Kensington & Chelsea College in London and is now a visiting Violin Teacher at the German School, London in Petersham and in Independent Schools in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.


She has a clear enhanced CRB check and is a member of the European String Teachers Association (ESTA).
